Hello everyone! Thanks for visiting my blog! I am hoping to regularly post here while I am in Kenya, so if you want regular updates hopefully they will be here pretty often. This will likely include things that I am doing, people I'm meeting, maybe some expectations for the coming days and most importantly things that I will want prayer for. So, here's the first.
So, I just finished my orientation. I've been here since noon on Wednesday and we've been doing different sessions on expectations, safety, health, culture, etc. Some of the things that have been mentioned regarding the culture have been repeats of some of the things I have heard in some of my classes at EBC, but they have been more specific to Kenyan culture. The people who have been doing our orientation lived in Nairobi for seven years and attended the church that Catherine (my partner for this trip) and I will be working in, so they know the pastors well and the church. They have been a great help for learning about what we will be doing.
So, I leave tonight on a 7-hour flight to London, England and after two hours there we have an 8-hour flight to Nairobi. We will be spending a couple days in orientation there and then Catherine and I will be moving in with the pastor and his wife for the duration of our trip. Prayer requests for the next few days are that we will be safe during out travels and that once we get there we have open minds and open hearts to what is going on around us.
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
In Christ,
Steph
