I saw a Zebra

Hello from Kenya!
I made it here safe and sound. The flights were long, but they were alright. One of the things that was coolest about the flight from England to Kenya was flying over the deserts in North Africa. I had been sleeping and when I woke up I looked out the window, not really expecting to see much at 39000 feet. When I looked out it seemed as though there was a layer of clouds that were somewhat low to the ground, and blurring what I might have been able to see, but they weren't clouds. I am guessing that it was the dust from the sand that was making it a little hard to see, but when I could see and realized that it was sand and we were flying over the desert it was really cool. I realize that deserts probably would seem that interesting, but it was cool from the air, trust me. We got into Nairobi at about 11:00 and we were pretty tired. After leaving the airport we were driving for just a few minutes and our driver was saying how if it were light outside we'd be able to see the animals pretty well. However, even though it was dark we passed by some zebras and he pointed them out when we passed by and I looked and saw them, so that was really exciting for me. This morning we went to church, not the one I'll be working with but another that is only about 2-300 people, which is small compared to the one I'll be in this summer which apparently has 3000 people, which to be honest makes me a little nervous.
I know that many of you are praying for me and I appreciate all of those prayers. I would like to ask you right now to also pray for rain. We learned the other day that Kenya has been in a drought for a while and it will be effecting the crops and the harvest, which many people use to survive. Please pray that God will shower this country with rain so that the crop will be able to grow.
The next few days we'll be doing some orientation here and then we start getting involved in the ministry of the church on Thursday. I'll write as more as time goes on, but when out ministry time starts I do not yet know how busy I will be, so we'll just have to see about that.
Well, that's about it for now. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers,
Steph

  1. Hey Steph,
Sounds like you are having lots of fun. I pray that God would use you as a light in Kenya. Most of all, may this trip strengthen your call to missions and be a testimony to what God is doing in your life.I know that you will come back from this trip so pumped and on fire for the Lord! I will pray that you get some rain there for the crops. Keep the updates coming and stay out of trouble. Just want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers here in Canada. Blessings,

    Kyle
